We heard you are all over the Internet, you are even a forum moderator at ubiketv.com , what's the deal with that?
Haha. I have a few too many videos uploaded. Being a moderator on ubiketv is awesome. It has made my addiction to mtb forums a job, and I love it.
How long have you been riding bikes and what different genres have you either ridden or raced?
I started riding bikes around the age of 12, on a BMX. I then switched over to mountain bikes and have been riding them ever since. I try to ride every aspect on my bike. I love dirt jumps and park, but I am most focused on DH for 2008.
How long have you been riding downhill?
I have been riding Dh for roughly 1 ½ years.
When was your first race?
Around May 2006, at Lake Ridge O-Cup #2
What class do you race in?
Junior Expert Men
How was your first race?
My first race was an experience to say the least. It was super slick out which made the off camber roots gnarly. All in all I did alright placing 6th in cadet (15-16).
Did you feel prepared when lining up at the gate?
I defiantly felt nervous, I did not really know what to expect. I felt that I could handle what I was getting myself into, but even to this day I get super nervous.
How did you first season as a racer go?
My first season was technically in 2007. I started out in junior sport, placing top 3 at my first and third race. From that point on I moved up to Junior Expert where I placed third at O-Cup #4, my first race as a Junior Expert. At the O-Cup #5 I placed fifth after taking a major bail that landed me in the hospital later that evening. Then my biggest accomplishment, I placed 3rd at the provincial finals.
What would you like to see as a racer at the next race you attend?
One thing that I really like is organization. If everything goes smoothly it keeps me happy. As well as everyone having a good time, too much drama is never good. As long as everyone has fun, it’s all good.
What scares you most while on the bike?
Kevin Norris
Who do you look up to?
I look up to anyone racing in the world cup circuit; those guys are nuts. As well as all the O-Cup elite’s, they show the true limits of Ontario skill.
Your dream ride would be where and include what?
My dream ride would include a 1-2 hour DH run through a thick, lush forest with a combination of all element of riding.
What do you think would benefit the race scene most?
More venues would really amp up our riding; variation is always nice.
What are your main goals for 2008?
I want to place top 3 overall in the Junior Expert Men O-Cup series. As well as, I want to try to make it out to more Canada Cup races and also try to make it out and enter in Crankworx.
Anybody you want to thank?
I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for supporting me, all my friends for keeping me going and making me push my limits. Also anyone along the way who has complimented my riding or helped me out with guidance, the O-cup circuit and it’s helpers (Lee, kris, pete), and most of all Juan Fanzio for helping me out numerous times and making me realize my true potential.
